Reflection paper#1
When I was a child, the only imagination I had about Africa is wild grassland and animals everywhere, I got these info from the TV shows. After I grow up, I saw the news about the war and hunger that happened in Africa, I thought Africa is poor and unlucky place. Until now, all the information that I got point to one meaning, Africa needs help.
I watched the video that be mentioned in the Reading passage, It is a commercial advertisement that wants to call people to help the children in Africa. Nine famous stars were saying they are Africans. I don’t understand the reason about why this advertisement doing this, but I think the media doesn’t show the responsibility with making this advertisement. In this advertisement, stars are painted on their skin and “try” to be an African. But the truth is, not most Africans are like that, Africa is a civilization just like other continent, it has many different countries and different culture.
I always think the media’s job is send the truth to the people, but in fact, media didn’t do it. The Imagination of Africa became so ridiculous, the media has responsibility of that. In the reading passage, it tell a group of fashion photos were took in the the Africa, but it doesn’t show Africa how civilized but show it like an uncivilized world. It send wrong massage to people, I don’t think it is the right way to tell the story.
